Speech by Nathuram Ghodse

The judge who convicted Nathuram was on record saying that had the public been the jury, Nathuram Godse would have been surely aquitted.Judge who vidicated Nathuram Ghodse In the pic (L to R) :Nathuram Godse, Narayan Apte and Vishnu Karkare

Born in a devotional Brahmin family, I instinctively came to revere Hindu religion, Hindu history and Hindu culture. I had, therefore, been intensely proud of Hinduism as a whole. As I grew up I developed a tendency to free thinking unfettered by any superstitious allegiance to any isms, political or religious. That is why I worked actively for the eradication of untouchability and the caste system based on birth alone. I openly joined anti-caste movements and maintained that all Hindus were of equal status as to rights, social and religious and should be considered high or low on merit alone and not through the accident of birth in a particular caste or profession. I used publicly to take part in organized anti-caste dinners in which thousands of Hindus, Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaisyas, Chamars and Bhangis participated. We broke the caste rules and dined in the company of each other.

I have read the speeches and writings of Dadabhai Nairoji, Vivekanand, Gokhale, Tilak, along with the books of ancient and modern history of India and some prominent countries like England, France, America and’ Russia. Moreover I studied the tenets of Socialism and Marxism. But above all I studied very closely whatever Veer Savarkar and Gandhiji had written and spoken, as to my mind these two ideologies have contributed more to the moulding of the thought and action of the Indian people during the last thirty years or so, than any other single factor has done.

All this reading and thinking led me to believe it was my first duty to serve Hindudom and Hindus both as a patriot and as a world citizen. To secure the freedom and to safeguard the just interests of some thirty crores (300 million) of Hindus would automatically constitute the freedom and the well being of all India, one fifth of human race. This conviction led me naturally to devote myself to the Hindu Sanghtanist ideology and programme, which alone, I came to believe, could win and preserve the national independence of Hindustan, my Motherland, and enable her to render true service to humanity as well.

Since the year 1920, that is, after the demise of Lokamanya Tilak, Gandhiji’s influence in the Congress first increased and then became supreme. His activities for public awakening were phenomenal in their intensity and were reinforced by the slogan of truth and non-violence, which he paraded ostentatiously before the country. No sensible or enlightened person could object to those slogans. In fact there is nothing new or original in them. They are implicit in every constitutional public movement. But it is nothing but a mere dream if you imagine that the bulk of mankind is, or can ever become, capable of scrupulous adherence to these lofty principles in its normal life from day to day. In fact, honour, duty and love of one’s own kith and kin and country might often compel us to disregard non-violence and to use force. I could never conceive that an armed resistance to an aggression is unjust. I would consider it a religious and moral duty to resist and, if possible, to overpower such an enemy by use of force. [In the Ramayana] Rama killed Ravana in a tumultuous fight and relieved Sita. [In the Mahabharata], Krishna killed Kansa to end his wickedness; and Arjuna had to fight and slay quite a number of his friends and relations including the revered Bhishma because the latter was on the side of the aggressor. It is my firm belief that in dubbing Rama, Krishna and Arjuna as guilty of violence, the Mahatma betrayed a total ignorance of the springs of human action.

In more recent history, it was the heroic fight put up by Chhatrapati Shivaji that first checked and eventually destroyed the Muslim tyranny in India. It was absolutely essentially for Shivaji to overpower and kill an aggressive Afzal Khan, failing which he would have lost his own life. In condemning history’s towering warriors like Shivaji, Rana Pratap and Guru Gobind Singh as misguided patriots, Gandhiji has merely exposed his self-conceit. He was, paradoxical, as it may appear, a violent pacifist who brought untold calamities on the country in the name of truth and non-violence, while Rana Pratap, Shivaji and the Guru will remain enshrined in the hearts of their countrymen forever for the freedom they brought to them.

The accumulating provocation of thirty-two years, culminating in his last pro-Muslim fast, at last goaded me to the conclusion that the existence of Gandhi should be brought to an end immediately. Gandhi had done very well in South Africa to uphold the rights and well being of the Indian community there. But when he finally returned to India he developed a subjective mentality under which he alone was to be the final judge of what was right or wrong. If the country wanted his leadership, it had to accept his infallibility; if it did not, he would stand aloof from the Congress and carry on his own way. Against such an attitude there can be no halfway house. Either Congress had to surrender its will to his and had to be content with playing second fiddle to all his eccentricity, whimsicality, metaphysics and primitive vision, or it had to carry on without him. He alone was the Judge of everyone and everything; he was the master brain guiding the civil disobedience movement; no other could know the technique of that movement. He alone knew when to begin and when to withdraw it. The movement might succeed or fail, it might bring untold disaster and political reverses but that could make no difference to the Mahatma’s infallibility. ‘A Satyagrahi can never fail’ was his formula for declaring his own infallibility and nobody except himself knew what a Satyagrahi is.

Thus, the Mahatma became the judge and jury in his own cause. These childish insanities and obstinacies, coupled with a most severe austerity of life, ceaseless work and lofty character made Gandhi formidable and irresistible. Many people thought that his politics were irrational but they had either to withdraw from the Congress or place their intelligence at his feet to do with, as he liked. In a position of such absolute irresponsibility Gandhi was guilty of blunder after blunder, failure after failure, disaster after disaster.

Gandhi’s pro-Muslim policy is blatantly in his perverse attitude on the question of the national language of India. It is quite obvious that Hindi has the most prior claim to be accepted as the premier language. In the beginning of his career in India, Gandhi gave a great impetus to Hindi but as he found that the Muslims did not like it, he became a champion of what is called Hindustani. Everybody in India knows that there is no language called Hindustani; it has no grammar; it has no vocabulary. It is a mere dialect; it is spoken, but not written. It is a bastard tongue and crossbreed between Hindi and Urdu, and not even the Mahatma’s sophistry could make it popular. But in his desire to please the Muslims he insisted that Hindustani alone should be the national language of India. His blind followers, of course, supported him and the so-called hybrid language began to be used. The charm and purity of the Hindi language was to be prostituted to please the Muslims. All his experiments were at the expense of the Hindus.

From August 1946 onwards the private armies of the Muslim League began a massacre of the Hindus. The then Viceroy, Lord Wavell, though distressed at what was happening, would not use his powers under the Government of India Act of 1935 to prevent the rape, murder and arson. The Hindu blood began to flow from Bengal to Karachi with some retaliation by the Hindus. The Interim Government formed in September was sabotaged by its Muslim League members right from its inception, but the more they became disloyal and treasonable to the government of which they were a part, the greater was Gandhi’s infatuation for them. Lord Wavell had to resign as he could not bring about a settlement and he was succeeded by Lord Mountbatten. King Log was followed by King Stork.

The Congress, which had boasted of its nationalism and socialism, secretly accepted Pakistan literally at the point of the bayonet and abjectly surrendered to Jinnah. India was vivisected and one-third of the Indian territory became foreign land to us from August 15, 1947. Lord Mountbatten came to be described in Congress circles as the greatest Viceroy and Governor-General this country ever had. The official date for handing over power was fixed for June 30, 1948, but Mountbatten with his ruthless surgery gave us a gift of vivisected India ten months in advance. This is what Gandhi had achieved after thirty years of undisputed dictatorship and this is what Congress party calls ‘freedom’ and ‘peaceful transfer of power’. The Hindu-Muslim unity bubble was finally burst and a theocratic state was established with the consent of Nehru and his crowd and they have called ‘freedom won by them with sacrifice’ – whose sacrifice? When top leaders of Congress, with the consent of Gandhi, divided and tore the country – which we consider a deity of worship – my mind was filled with direful anger.

One of the conditions imposed by Gandhi for his breaking of the fast unto death related to the mosques in Delhi occupied by the Hindu refugees. But when Hindus in Pakistan were subjected to violent attacks he did not so much as utter a single word to protest and censure the Pakistan Government or the Muslims concerned. Gandhi was shrewd enough to know that while undertaking a fast unto death, had he imposed for its break some condition on the Muslims in Pakistan, there would have been found hardly any Muslims who could have shown some grief if the fast had ended in his death. It was for this reason that he purposely avoided imposing any condition on the Muslims. He was fully aware of from the experience that Jinnah was not at all perturbed or influenced by his fast and the Muslim League hardly attached any value to the inner voice of Gandhi.

Gandhi is being referred to as the Father of the Nation. But if that is so, he had failed his paternal duty inasmuch as he has acted very treacherously to the nation by his consenting to the partitioning of it. I stoutly maintain that Gandhi has failed in his duty. He has proved to be the Father of Pakistan. His inner-voice, his spiritual power and his doctrine of non-violence of which so much is made of, all crumbled before Jinnah’s iron will and proved to be powerless.

Briefly speaking, I thought to myself and foresaw I shall be totally ruined, and the only thing I could expect from the people would be nothing but hatred and that I shall have lost all my honour, even more valuable than my life, if I were to kill Gandhiji. But at the same time I felt that the Indian politics in the absence of Gandhiji would surely be proved practical, able to retaliate, and would be powerful with armed forces. No doubt, my own future would be totally ruined, but the nation would be saved from the inroads of Pakistan. People may even call me and dub me as devoid of any sense or foolish, but the nation would be free to follow the course founded on the reason which I consider to be necessary for sound nation-building. After having fully considered the question, I took the final decision in the matter, but I did not speak about it to anyone whatsoever. I took courage in both my hands and I did fire the shots at Gandhiji on 30th January 1948, on the prayer-grounds of Birla House.

I do say that my shots were fired at the person whose policy and action had brought rack and ruin and destruction to millions of Hindus. There was no legal machinery by which such an offender could be brought to book and for this reason I fired those fatal shots.

I bear no ill will towards anyone individually but I do say that I had no respect for the present government owing to their policy, which was unfairly favourable towards the Muslims. But at the same time I could clearly see that the policy was entirely due to the presence of Gandhi. I have to say with great regret that Prime Minister Nehru quite forgets that his preachings and deeds are at times at variances with each other when he talks about India as a secular state in season and out of season, because it is significant to note that Nehru has played a leading role in the establishment of the theocratic state of Pakistan, and his job was made easier by Gandhi’s persistent policy of appeasement towards the Muslims.

I now stand before the court to accept the full share of my responsibility for what I have done and the judge would, of course, pass against me such orders of sentence as may be considered proper. But I would like to add that I do not desire any mercy to be shown to me, nor do I wish that anyone else should beg for mercy on my behalf. My confidence about the moral side of my action has not been shaken even by the criticism levelled against it on all sides. I have no doubt that honest writers of history will weigh my act and find the true value thereof some day in future.

There is always 2 sides to a coin. Thanks for bringing this article on Ghodse’s side of the story. It looks very compelling and was an interesting persspective.

    • I appreciate the RSS for coming up with such an ushering article. All the while I wasnt thinking of Godse as a villain but I didnt know that he was such a great man, not less than Bhagat Singh etc. If they were alive by 1948, they wud have done the same thing which Godse did.

  2. Amazing stuff. Where did you find this and is the speech genuine?
I also heard there was a full autobigraphy by GOdse on the topic but of course it is conviniently banned in India.
WOuld be great to get hold of the book if it exists.

    • I don’t know about the book, but if you watch marathi movies, there is a play called Mee Nathuram Godse Boltoy, you’ll find it in Vileparla, opposite to the ShivSagar Restaurant there is a small shop. Ask him for the vcd

  3. YATEESH KUMAR Says:

its an amazing that, a guy who knows as killer of great man of india is the real for our country, gandhiji had no right to divide this nation, the punishmnet which ghodse was given to him was right as for as i concern

  7. hi… it was 2 good… do u have any other articles related 2 it?

  8. Great Stuff my friend, although I am christian by birth, I respect hinduism and Greatly accept the views and principles on which godse stood and achived the goals, it is also unfortunate to see the state of hindu’s today leading a minority life in INDIA, today Muslims are ruling the country the ex president, the celebrities, the singers name the top brass they all are muslims, Hindus have proved laders while they climb and achive the goals, they are still teaching lessons and murdering differently.

We call them Gay Hindus, learn unity, religion, faith in god from Musilims atleast now.

The world knows where OSAMA is (in pakistan) but not a single muslim will reveal, but several hindus are still accusing Godse who fought for them, this shows how much unity and freedom of speech hindus have.

    Shame of them guys.

  9. soory to say but congress peoples are very torch.to u r family.we do that u think but no budy think that u r done a well job.u r realy legend.if u bourn again i make u my guru.i will give u sallute.if u r understand my fillings.jai hind jai maharashtra jaishivaji jai bhavani.

  10. this is very true. people should know this. in today’s world also about 80% loss of human life is because of muslims. they are spreading hatered in name of religion all over the world. this community should be wiped out from this planet and everyone who help this comunity in any form should also be punished.
    these are my personal feelings.

  11. Radheya Mortha Says:

I’d like to know where you got this article from. Also I’d like to read the official ruling and the words of the judge. It is a great article but I do doubt its credibility. This seems like an ectract from a court so unless we actually can trace these words in that court hearing disregarding this article is not un-justified.

  12. i defenitely accept thhat nathuram godse was a man of great knowledge, determination and a mind for service ….. but at the fag end i realise that his decision to put an end to bapus life purely stems from his impatience in satyagraha and nonviolence …..even if all the allegences godse casts upon gandhi is true does anybody has the right to end a human beings life…..if thats the case then this world will be wiped pff all human life as everybody is hated by someone or another …….. and with the sixth sense of mankind in mind i strongly propose that taking a life is a sure act of insanity and it is a great misfortune for the nation that men like godse sometimes do fall for this moment of insanity……..

  13. I have myself had no fascination for Gandhi. At best he was a dreamer, unfit to rule a nation. It is also the fault on the part of the historians of the nation to idolize one man and to make him a God! Gandhi like all men was flawed in his outlook of what was good for the nation.

  14. revolutionkid Says:

Be careful, anti-Congress and anti-gandhi works have the habit of being banned pronto in India. I hope people care about your Freedom of Expression! Keep up the good work. India and this world require a new thought and new vision.

  15. Nathuram Ghodse:he was not a hindu lunatic or a deranged fanatic as people thought. He had a family to care for and he shot point blank after unsuccessfully trying from a distance. His views for a Hindu state was not unsupported .Anyone who has read the shastras will agree that some of the Gandhian principles are contradictory to the fundamental vedantic phiosophy. If you like ghodse watch Kamal’s Hey Ram or read ‘Yes, My Majesty.’It is believed that his argument in the trial was so convincing that Nehru was forced to order a blackout.

  17. It is Gandhi’s legacy that promotes disruptive politics in the form of reservations in almost all walks of life ….and here we are as a nation still celebrating “Bapu” and condemning Nathuram Ghodse…

  18. Gandhi was a curse for India. He made himself the leader of the Congress, he was never elected. Immediately after that he had expelled everyone who were really freedom fighters, said insulting remarks about the revolutionaries, and every great men of India, expelled Subhas Chandra Bose from the Congress, refused to accept in 1938 anti-Jinnah Muslim leaders like Fazlul Haque in Congress, refused to accept Baluchistan and NWFP in India in 1947 and demonstrated no sympathy for the non-Muslims trapped in Pakistan but advised them to accept death.
It is a great misfortune that Gandhi came back from South Africa.

  19. One of the biggest curse that MotherIndia and Hinduism inherited was this
___ gandhi. His story is like this..

Born in a family, he was a constant problem for his parents..He used to fight with his father etc…
He even tried to rape his mother once when just 13 so they married him off…He had a deep shaitan in him by which he wanted to be respected and become hore (even at the cost of otehrs lives, Nations losses, personnal uncomfort(Physical etc)..But actual stuff was totally lacking.

He learnt some tactics of Non violence in SA and got little succeess there and thats’s it ..this B**** took it up on and came to india ..to experiment it ( Bcs this evil knew the Indian people are much less educated and innocent and they will simply take his Idea and make him a hero)..

He was least bothered abt the country or its independence etc..All he wanted was blind following , either to do satyagrah or eat Pig’s shit..

The Hindu – Muslim stuff is well know of this B*** and more astonishing was the handiwork to change the national language to some shit language invented by his evil mind..

Such evil personalities when ever they come on thie earth or go where ever, they bring in total chaos , huge lives losses and distruction just to satiate their inner lust for power/recognition ..

My this write up is a tribute to the great Ghodse, who faught for the cause of hindus..

May God never send such shitty , B**** and F*** personalities to our Divine country with innocent people.

May he rot in the eternal Hell…

  20. i appreciate the effort of putting this stuff across and would really wish that hindus should go through and enlighten themselves. I have read gandhi and read Ghodse. We shold appreciate ghodse for not being a blind follower of the herd. he didnt shot gandhi but he shot a threat to religion, which has lost its identity to a great extent and for this thanks to Gandhi. his few years were enough to ruin hindus and hindi and most of the hindus still dont know what they have lost. lets all stand up to ghodse and make sure that we should make sure that we bring back what ghose fight off for.

  21. Harshad Patel Says:

Gandhijis mistake was selecting Mr Nehru instead of Shri Sardar patel

  22. It was a very honest description of want went through the mind of ghodse. I believe he lost his way as he grew more inclined towards hinduism and was delusioned by the supremacy of hinduism. I understand his feelings that we cannot sit idle when our women and children are being killed and raped. But ghodse mistool ghandi to be behind the separation. In truth the british created a feeling of insecurity among muslims on the pretext of them being the minority. Naturally the muslim leaders instincts were to protect the muslims and hence they asked for a separate state.
Ghandi’s fast was to ask the hindus to quit killing muslim brethren. But his voice would not have been heard by the muslims in pakistan because he was a Hindu. It would have helped if jinnah had done the satyagraha in pakistan.
If we had started retaliating the british it would have given them all the more reason to oppress us citing terrorism and we would not won the support of the world for our independence. Ghode sees himself as looking at the long term welfare of the conuntry through the reason behind that is skewed. But failed to see that Ghandi also was looking at the long term welfare, that is independence of india. Ghandi found a way which would gaurantee that, though the path was filled with pain.
He led the protests not fearing for his life. The british did not kill him coz they did not want him martyrised.
I do not think ghodse’s ways would have given us the independence. Even if it had far more blood would have flown by the time we got that.

    Your comments are most welcome.

    • Aravinda Says:

The difference is money earned easily and by hard means….If you earned it easy way, we wouldn’t think much to spend…that is how we are spending our freedom today…..We would have preserved it better had we earned it hard the way (at least make all the great sacrifice made by revolutionaries to common mass…) ….It makes sense why congress if full of filth….you can see the lac of conviction toward very Gandhi principles. Look at the state India today…Lack of identity, pride…no knowledge about history, no purpose…Sorry there is purpose…to make many whichever way….

All that the educated want to do is run away from India and settle with half clothes in USA… Even if it means humiliation, lac of pride…It’s the same superiority psyche created by British even ruling India today. Why don’t we have selfless serving role models in the Indian polity…What happened to all those people who were walking with Gandhi..Lost faith…All those people who embraced multi-religious culture by marrying Muslim men just prove the point.. ?? Like Aruna Asaf Ali…!!

Tell me who is inspired by Gandhi…?? Tell me if Nehru/Indira/Rajiv/Sonia are inspired by it? Who in congress is following him? Don’t ask me why are you not following…I don’t believe in Gandhi….Isn’t this mass hypocrisy and day dreaming…?

  23. I have gone through other;s comments on ghodse.. someone said he was unfit to rule and had his flaws. yes i accept that. but atleast he had an idea and implemented it in a way he see fit. and it worked in getting us the freedom. do u think we would have won the freedomt hen if he had not united the people?
it is easy to criticize others about their plan. but at least the execute. every ideology has its ups and downs. but unless we try we will never know.
If u think ghandi was stupid, then why do we not start a revolution that would end corruption in india and make it the most powerful nation? why are we afraid of retalitaion. Ghandi was not afraid was he?
Ghodse meant well but was misguided in his approach.

Those who blame ghandi.. i accept their views.. but i request them to try changin their locality into a meaning ful place. He had a vision and the courage to walk with it.. how many of us do???

  24. there is a reason why we condemn the psychotic named ghodse and rever gandhi. Gandhi represented civility in its purest sense. it is difficult for a lay man to follow his ‘lofty’ ideals but he is definitely a good example to follow. If the people who witnessed this speech by ghodse found their consciences sympathetic towards him then i would credit that to ghodse’s oratorial skills. The fact that he was a nobody is ample proof that he was not worthy enough to pass judgement on a man who had achieved so much by his much criticized non violet methods. He had a vision and he implemented it .. as raghavan rightly pointed out and that is the defining line of judgement. Nathuram ghodse was a religious fanatic not knowing reason or common sense. He represents reckless animal instincts

    • Yo have been brainwashed by people around you… devoid of free thinking.
Gandhi may have been a great man. He did good deeds for Indians and blacks in South Africa…but once he came to India, he had begun thinking of himself as a god. No one dared to defy his judgement.
If you read Paragraph No. 4 and 5, you will know why.
It is written that he dubbed Rama and Arjuna guilty of violence, and Shivaji and Rana Pratap as misguided patriots. If your daughter comes home and says that your neighbour tried to flirt with her…you will naturally be angry. You wil resort to violence. You can’t bring the entire street together for a satyagraha outside his house. It doesn’t make a difference. If pakistan comes to war with us, Indian population can’t just go and do a peace march in front of them. Their soldiers will kill the public. You Certainly can’t go to war planning to shower roses in return for the bullets being fired upon you. We cannot always be non violent.
And FYI, Nathuram was not a Psychotic. Don’t use words of whose meanings you yourself Don’t know. Godse was not a religious fanatic as our history books say.

  25. Radheya Mortha(once again) Says:

What a load of bullshit this article is! If the judge really said what you claim he had said then I cant help but pity his ignorance. The public sentiment was in favour of Gandhi at that time. Do you really think if the public was the jury they would aquit Godse? They would stone to death him for killing the person who united their(our) nation.

PS: Is the author going to tell us where he has got these transcripts from?

  26. Admirer of patriots Says:

Evertthying Ghodse has said in this transcript is true to the last word. It is good to recall a statement of Ramakrishna who I hold in high regard as a spiritual leader. He says if one really believes in God he could not eat, sleep or rest till he realizes Him like a a greedy merchant who realizes that there is a treasure in the next room. How could any patriot who was fair and true to his people keep quite under the atrocities committed on his own people in the name of peace. Ghandhi although had admirable qualities, was insanely obstinate and obscessed with his self righteousness.
He would not tolerate any dissent. It required a man of great patriotism and selfness like Ghodse to put an end to the genocide of Hindus aided and abetted by Ghandhi and his cronies like Nehru who had their own political ambition.Whoever has the commonsense to read undedited story of Indian freedom struggle will appreciate the sacrifices of so many other leaders like Subhas chandra Bose and Savarkar and see the truth behind the spin created by Congress and the current day politicians.
In my mind Ghodse and Apte go down in the history as the greatest patriots and intellectuals on the lines of Shivaji and Tilak,Bose and others.
    God bless their soul.

  27. godse is RIGHT

  28. hindhustan was divided into two, pakistan for muslims and india for ………………..
what is the justification for this????????? idon’t understand.
99.99% of christians and muslims in india were hindhus.

  29. any country which contain more than 50% of muslims is a muslim nation, any country which contain more than 50% of christians is a christian nation, why, india ‘holding 80% of hindhus’ is not a hindhu nation??????????
within 100 or 150 years muslims will become majority in india and india will become a muslim nation, then no muslim will speak about secularism or socialism, hindhus will not get any benefits of minority.no hindhus will be there in the parliament or state assemblies.

  30. I have deep appreciation for Ghodse. He was right in doing what he did, for the massacre of innocent hindus.

    The question is :

” what, if this country was not divide” what would be our past, present and future.

Our past-We would not be a democratic country and would have been ruled by a military junta.

Present- We would be a breeding ground of terrorists and osama would be in india.

Future- All our women would wear burka and men would wear salwar kameez, with a rifle on our shoulder. we would be another afganistan.

  31. NATHURAM GODSE is my GOD….

  32. Arjun Nath Says:

May be you have saved INDIA from further Destruction. May be India would have been divided in too many parts if Gandhiji was alive further. It is India’s destiny. But we have to change the destiny of our motherland. We never & ever leave our BHARAT MATA to become a Muslim Country.

  33. gandhi deserve this assasination i am personally proud of mr. godse long live his name………….

  34. sandesh panvelkar Says:

why was mr.savarkar also added in them he is my icon i trust him more than gandhi a man who gave his life for country was in jail its just desgusting…and country should be in shame for this behaviour…long live tatya savarkar……..

  35. `If this is the speech genuinely written and delivered in court by Nathuram Godhse, then where was it hidden for six decades, and posted on Dec 14, 2007. I cannot believe its authenticity at all. I am a Sikh, and I believe in persons right to defend. The 10th Guru Gobind Singh,”Chu Kar Az Ham Hilte Dar Guzashat, Halat Ast Burdan Ba Shamsheer Dast.” meaning when all other means fail to get justice, it is lawful to take the sword for defense; from Zafarnama, a letter of Victory wiritten and delivered by Bhai Daya Singh to Thyrant Aurangzeb in 1706 AD. Gandhi called Guru Gobind Singh, a misguided patriot; when sikhs objected, Gandhi apologised. However, even if I agree with the contents of this article, I do not trust its authenticity. The writer must disclose the source; otherwise it looks like a recent Hindutva agenda to incite Hindus to kill Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Dalits, and lately even all North Indians as was done by MNS Raj Thakeray by attaching candites who simply came to Maharashtra to write an examination for Railway. Do the present day Sangh Privar, give equal rights to all citizens of India, Hindus, Dravids, Dalits, Christians, Muslims. It is in fact the parochial ideology of Sangh Privar (HMS, RSS, BJP, Shiv Sena, MNS, Bajrang Dal etc), who are to be blamed for creation of Pakistan, because Jinnah didn’t see any future for any minorities in India after the British left. Who assasinated over 250000 Sikhs in India in the last three decades; was anybody found guilty by India’s court system? Recent troubles in India are all to be blamed on Sangh Privar and its terrorist agents, and not pacifists like Gandhi. If this trend in India continues, I can assure the writer of this article that India will split into several hundred independent states like Pakistan. It is ironic to watch even the Congress the so called SUCULAR party condones the acts of terrorism committed by agents of Hindutva. Where were all these patriotic defenders of India, when from 711AD until 1947 India was ruled by foreigners. Only voice that successfully defeated the Muslim rulers were the Sikhs, who created the Sikh Kingdom from Jamuna to Khaiber Pass, and from Multan to Ladakh. The Ft. of Jamrod in th mouth of Khyber pass stands even today as evidence than Hari Singh Nalva, the brave General of Shere-Punjab Maharajah Ranjit Singh, had blocked the entrance to India from the North-west; however, the British came from the South; but didn’t dare to enter Punjab Across River Satleh until after the death of Ranjit Singh in 1949 AD.

  36. `If this is the speech genuinely written and delivered in court by Nathuram Godhse, then where was it hidden for six decades, and posted on Dec 14, 2007. I cannot believe its authenticity at all. I am a Sikh, and I believe in persons right to defend. The 10th Guru Gobind Singh,”Chu Kar Az Ham Hilte Dar Guzashat, Halat Ast Burdan Ba Shamsheer Dast.” meaning when all other means fail to get justice, it is lawful to take the sword for defense; from Zafarnama, a letter of Victory written and delivered by Bhai Daya Singh to Tyrant Aurangzeb in 1706 AD. Gandhi called Guru Gobind Singh, a misguided patriot; when sikhs objected, Gandhi apologised. However, even if I agree with the contents of this article, I do not trust its authenticity. The writer must disclose the source; otherwise it looks like a recent Hindutva agenda to incite Hindus to kill Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Dalits, and lately even all North Indians as was done by MNS Raj Thakeray by attaching candidates who simply came to Maharashtra to write an examination for Railway. Who asasinated over 250000 Sikhs in India in the last three decades; was anybody found guilty by India’s court system? Recent troubles in India are all to be blamed on Sangh Privar and its terrorist agents, and not pacifists like Gandhi. If this trend in India continues, I can assure the writer of this article that India will split into several hundred independent states like Pakistan. It is ironic to watch even the Congress the so called SeCULAR party condones the acts of terrorism committed by agents of Hindutva. The Ft. of Jamrod in the mouth of Khyber pass stands even today as evidence than Hari Singh Nalva, the brave General of Shere-Punjab Maharajah Ranjit Singh, had blocked the entrance to India from the North-west; however, the British came from the South; but didn’t dare to enter Punjab Across River Satlej until long after the death of Ranjit Singh in 1849 AD.

    • Great response paaji..I am a hindu and I respect all the religions..i want to remember you that the 1984 sikh killings were initiated by the Congress..Hindus never had any enemity with Sikhs and will never have..Congress have always tried to apply divide and rule policies..think the conditions of the Sikhs and Hindus in India now..Congress gives all the facilities to minorities..who is the real minority now…the Sikhs and the general caste Hindus..It was said that Punjab and Bengal were the main states responsible for bring freedom for India..what’s the condition of these two states now..Congress had ruled in the country for almost 60 yrs now and did it help? India is no lesser than a Monarchy..ruled by the Gandhis..who are spoiling the country…

    ===============
An org. like RSS or a political party like BJP or any party whoz priorities are in the interests of “The nation-India-hindusthan”, they speakup a common sentence…. U know what it is, it is… “Uniform Civil Code”. Now question urself, check if u can find any answers in ur religious scripts, for a question of “Is Uniform Civil Code good or bad, for the larger interest of the nation!” Then u will understand everything by urself.

Dont messup religion with politics, its not on hindu fanatic note Sikhs were killed, it was politically motivated act of genocity of 2.5 L of sikhs. U blame congress for that, Not hindus! (Jinna never lived and not aware of these politically motivated killings that happend in past 30 yrs) and u mention those sikh killing as a reaons why jinnah asked for Pakisthan, sounds VERY intelligent…

Why are u trying to create a division between hindus and sikhs.
Ur all gurus or atleast Gurunanak was a born hindu) dont forget that.

If the Gurus read ur post then I am sure they will feel ashamed for U as u r contents is against their preechings.

Sikhism is just part of Hinduism dude! never identify urself as separate entity, it is just like Jainism and budhism.

With atmost respect to the sentiments of indian nationals, let the Uniform civil code get in place, and let every indian feel as he is no different from other fellow indian. Never talk on religious note.. its stinks.

    Regards

  40. IN INDIA THE BIGGEST PROBLEM FOR AN HINDU IS THAT HE IS A HINDU.IN OUR OWN COUNTRY WE ARE TREATED LIKE REFUJEES.IF A MUSLIM TALKS OF KILLING A HINDU RATHER HE KILL THEN HE IS NEVER PENALISED BUT IF A HINDU TALKS ABOUT IT HE IS PENALISED.THE CONGRESS PARTY WHO RUINED OUR COUNTRY FOR THEIR OWN BENFIT TALK ABOUT SECULARISM BUT THEY ONLY DIFFENENTIATE OUR COUNTRY AS HINDUS,MUSLIMS,SIKHS,PARSIS,BUDDHISTS,DALITS AND SO ON…EVEN THE LIFE OF GANDHI WAS NOT TOTALLY EXPOSED GANDHI HAD FOUR SONS AND ONE OF THEM MARRIED A MUSLIM BUT THIS IS NOT TOLD TO THE WORLD.THE PLAY,BOOKS THAT ARE WRITTEN AGAINST GANDHI ARE BANNED.THE CONGRESS SIGNED TREATY AGAINST GREAT SUBASH CHANDRA BOSE,BHAGAT SINGH AND OTHERS.THE LIST IS COUNTING TILL TODAY BECAUSE THEY WANTED GANDHI TO BE BIG THAN NO OTHER LEADER.I TOTALLY FOLLOW THE GREAT MARTYS NATHURAM GHODSE IDEOLOGY AND BOW BEFORE HIM FOR SAVING OUR COUNTRY FROM SO CALLED GANDHI.WHEN INDINS WERE KILLED IN PAKISTAN AND THEIR DEVINE BODIES WERE SENT BY TRAINS GANDHI WAS ON FAST TO GIVE PAKISTAN 55 CRORES AND AMMUNITIONS.THE SAME PAKISTAN IS SITTING ON OUR HEAD.ALL BECAUSE GANDHI. JAI HIND!!

  41. Godse vs Gandhiji
Some people have criticized Pt. Nathuram Godse for killing Mohandas karam chand ji Gandhi. To know the reasons for Mr. Godse for taking the life of Gandhiji, I read two books on the subject.
    1. “The men who killed Gandhi” (English) by Manohar Molgonkar
    2. Gandhi vadh kyon (Hindi) by Gopal Godse, younger brother of Nathu Ram Godse.
After reading the above books one can understand the reasons – Why Godse killed Gandhi.
As per Manohar Molgonkar, Pt. Nathu Ram Godse had no criminal record. He was a fierce protagonist for removal of untouchability and abolition of cost system. He was away from the ills of drinking and smoking. He wore simplest clothes, read lot of books on politics, history and Hindu religion. He had once rescued and untouchable child fallen into a well. He was an Editor of daily news papers Agrni and Hindu Rastra.
Now the questions arises as to how and why a person of the above qualities can do gastly act of killing a person like Gandhiji.
The answer cam be found out in Godse’s statement made before the court and in his letter dated 12/11/1949 written by him to his father just two days before he was hanged to death by the Ambala jail Authorities.
In his statement before the court he had given mainly the following reasons for killing Gandhiji.
1.Gandhiji had surrendered to the demand of Muslim league for the partition of India.
2.Gandhi was supporting the cause of those who were directly or indirectly responsible for the killing of thousands of innocent Hindu children and disrespect of Hindu women.
3.Gandhiji had forced his Will upon the Government of India to give Rs.55crores to Pakistan at the time when the Pakistan had sent his Armed Forces for capturing Jammu & Kashmir which was part of India.
Killing a person is undoubtedly an act which should normally be condemned but again the question is whether Godse did so for his personal gain or which he thought was in national interest?
The answer to the above questions can be found out by studying of the above mentioned two books and Godse’s letter dated 12/11/1949 to his father.

  42. LAST LETTER OF NATHU RAM GODSE TO HIS PARENTS BEFORE THE EVE OF HIS HANGING.
    Ambala central jail,
    Dated 12-11-1949
    Most Respected My Dear Parents,
Please accept my last respect. Your blessing have been conveyed to me through a special message. I am pleased to note that you have accepted my request of not paying me a visit in this old age and ill health. I have your photographs and after offering my last worship to them I shall leave this world. I know you would be most aggrieved at this incident. But I am not writing this letter out of any frustration or to express my anguish. You are a believer in Geeta and you have also studied ‘Puran’. Shri Krishan has explained in detail the axioms of Geeta. He had killed King Shishupal with his ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ on the occasion of yagay and not a battle field.Who can say that Shri Krishan had done a wrong thing? On the battle field or otherwise Shri Krishan had given death penalty to several proud personalities for the good of society. In his Geeta recitations to Arjun he had persuaded him in the subconscious mind of a man and not in his deeds. It is not wise to pardon the evil doers.Sita was the cause of Ramayan and Draupadi for Mahabharat.
Thousand of Hindu women are being molested and those reponsible for molestation were supporting the evil doers. In this situation I could not sit idle because of the fear of my life or criticism of the people around. I have earned blessings of thousands of Hindu women and I am sacrificing my life for the sake of my country. I know that my loss would be felt by my family and relatives. But I vividly recall dilapated temples, beheaded bodies, murders of innocent Hindu childern, and disrespect to Hindu women of the land. I considered it to be my duty to break the back of the dreadful and ill character persons. I know I have done the right thing and I do not care for those who tend to criticise me and my actions. If there is any heaven on earth, I am sure it should be granted to me. I do not have to make special efforts to attain it. If there exists the so called ‘Moksh’. I do care for it and would like to achieve it.
I had never liked to beg for my life. I am grateful to the Government of the day that they are not showing me any favours in order to prolong my life span. The death perpetrators cannot kill me. My sacrifice would be gladly accepted by my country men.
‘Aatma’ would continue to live. I had a dream of complete freedom of intergrated Hindustan and this dream out weighed everything else including my life. This Government did not grant me that last opportunity to meet you. I had no expectations of any kind from this Government and it is easy to guess how this Government ignores the human values.
My friend Datta, Govind, Gopal and Shri Appa would convey you everything. Millions of my country men would be participants in your grief and they would shed tears on my sacrifices. I am sure you would take care of yourself and God would continue to help you.
    Long Live Integrated Hindustan
With my humble tributes. Nathu Ram Godse

  46. you are right shri Nathuram Ghodse, but killing a person is not correct that to Gandhiji. you might have choose another way to slove this problem.

Shri Godse, has sacrificed himself, bcz he couldn’t bear the pain of his fellow humans[indians-hindus] who were humiliated by the people[indians-muslims] whom our FATHER OF THE NATION had supported and covered up, and went on and on further helping them, funding them, and forcing the very own Indian government to release the fund to our rivals who tried to occupy Kashmir. who ever weighed him, but still the foolish[HIS OWN DEEDS SUGGEST THIS WORD] old man was on a note to support them… WHY? WHAT WAS THE REASON BEHIND ALL THIS…. why Gandhiji loved to care for the undeserved, the enemies who divided the country? the enemies who killed and raped the women. NO ONE KNOWS WHY GANDHI HAD DONE ALL THAT… WHICH DID COST OUR OWN PEOPLE ALOT.

SO WHY SUCH LIABILITY TO LIVE WHEN THERE IS ALL NONSENSE BCZ OF HIM…. WHEN WE ARE DYING AND OUR OWN PERSON GANDHI IS PROVIDING THE WEAPONRY TO THE ATTACKERS.. AND SUPPORTING THEM..
+++++++++ IN EVERY SENSE GODSE IS GOD-SE DID JUSTIFIED ACT AND HELPED GANDHI ATTAIN MOKHSA FROM THIS MATERIALISTIC WORLD++++++

  48. Ignorence is a sin. Our people needs to be educated a lot in history. India was never a nation state. It was the muslim rulers how made this wast geographical region a single political state. The British fine tuned it. Why these people are not accusing the British for taking away BUrma from India in 1935.
Sivaji was a hero in his own swarajia. He plunderd Surat two times 1764 and 1770. The same maratha brahmins refused to perform coronation of this chatrabathi.
More research needs to be done regarding the religious dis harmony in India. These are outdated issues and will not serve the purpose of providing bread and butter to our starving masses. Indians should learn to live in harmony and peace. please these issues are calonial legacy. try to come out of this hangover.

  49. quark_n_jaguar Says:

Ghodse does sound like a analytical mind, and I also think it’s a mistake to keep his views from being published for so long. It’s just difficult to keep these “ideas” away from people (they occur naturally), and when it is eventually revealed, the conspiracy aspect of it just aggravates people even further, and helps clouds reason. Censorship doesn’t work in the long term – at some point you have to trust the people to make their decisions – just provide them with all the information they need to form the “right” opinions. I think we should completely illuminate Ghodse’s life, and explain/debate why his perception was what it was.

I also think Ghodse, and several of the posters, had/have an issue that clouds their otherwise analytical minds – I believe they have let “hate” take root, and they may well be in denial. Once you are prejudiced by hate, you will end up with a skewed interpretation of things related to that prejudice. I have observed that this happens to many people that are analytical otherwise. I see this even in myself every now and then, and it scares me that it’s so easy to fall prey. This just seems to be a failing of the human brain – probably some evolutionary trait, but in current circumstances, I see it as a cancer that’s best prevented.

Once we get past the hate, another other argument we hear against Gandhi is that he wasn’t practical, and lived in this ideal dream world. As an aide, I have even heard some of the same people argue that he is shrewd also. Is the world where you kill someone just because his views have taken hold, practical? That’s not even getting into the moral angle – following Krishna according to your interpretation of the Gita/Mahabarat is exactly the definition of fanaticism. This was exactly the problem with some muslims through the course of history, and look where that has gotten them. Killing people if you don’t agree with their views will just lead to chaos, and I think there is plenty of historical evidence for this.

Was Ghodse really practical? I wish Ghodse continued to live well until his old age – he may just have realized and understood more, and become more “wiser”. He would have realized that Gandhi’s assasination didn’t make a difference to his “vision”. He would know he had just thrown away his life, and actually helped take a step backward. He will not be “recognized” by history as he claimed or wanted.

Was Gandhi responsible for dividing India? Is someone actually saying ‘yes’? Sorry, but that just doesn’t make sense. Sad that Ghodse possibly believed it.

Would we be better off if India wasn’t divided? Would India be better off if the Hindutva agenda were implemented early on? These are questions that just cannot be answered. Given the base tendencies of humans, the tendency for even homogenous societies to divide (a homogenous Hindu society did get divided by caste), I think the practical approach is to embrace diversity, encourage “higher” thinking, and proceed slowly forward. You do have to be wary of things that will seem like giant leaps back. To make any progress, you have to ensure fairness to all sections of society, and encourage civilized debate with an open mind.

What matters in the long term? If there is an answer, I think it’s ultimately spiritual and personal. However, a sense of empathy, or belief in team work, could broaden the goal to encompass society – would be good for everyone to have the freedom to explore their goals, and it may be easier getting there as a team. How does that translate to short term goals? A minimum framework/law should be setup to ensure fairness – unfairness causes giant steps back. Provide the “physical” freedom to everyone by eliminating poverty, and ensure basic health care to all. Provide the “mental” freedom by education, encourage civilized debate. I also think some form of a “spiritual” education possibly through religion may be needed, but I’m not yet convinced that the demerits of organized religion is not too large a price to pay.

Will just end the ramble there….

Indian sub-continent was never one country or a a NATION throughout the history. This area has more linguistic, religious, and cultural diversity than the rest of the world. Until the British took over to rule this sub-continent, it was split into several hundred independent kingdoms. British direct rule extended only a part of these independently ruled kingdoms, and still a large part stayed independent under the British suzerainty. No Indian language is spoken by the majority of people. Dravidian languages, the original native Indian languages, have no similarity with the Aryan languages. No Indian language is capable of becoming a truly national language that is why a foreign language, English is is the lingua-franca of this sub-continent. Hindus are utterly wrong to claim Hindi as the National language because it is spoken by about 30% of the total population, and thrust upon the rest. India the name of this sub-continent is a misnomer. The word Hindu or Hindustan is also of recent origin because there is no mention of such words in ancient religious shastras, 4 vedas, simrities of sanatan dharma. This is for your kind infomation good fellows inhabiting this sub-continent.
