Colonel Algernon Durand

Colonel Algernon Durand was the man who defined the western frontier of the British Indian frontier, which now divides Pakistan and Afghanistan. Durand’s struggle was to establish the authority of the British government in apprehension of a threat from Russia.When Durand reached Gilgit, Curand found utter chaos, intrigue and treachery in local politics resulting in his appointment as Political Agent there to firmly establish British authority there.
